So i've been playing Golden Sun on the ol' Gameboy SP for the past week and i finally finished it.
Overall, i think it effectively kills time, which is a plus. However, it is far too short. It was obviously designed for the younger gamers with a simple gameplay system and even simpler puzzles.
You realize the targeted age range at the end when you've beaten the final boss at level 29 with relatively few problems and there's not really any reason to continue to level up and max out your characters because there isn't anything challenging left in the goddamned world.
After reading some walkthroughs of Golden Sun 2: The Lost Age, i was totally put off from playing that as well. The job class system was made to be slightly more complicated by throwing in some item system. The thing is, you'd think that would be a good thing as it introduces new challenges and class combinations, but unfortunately for me, i'm sort of a perfectionist when it comes to RPG's.
I always try to max out my characters and make them the best in every conceivable way. If i can't have that, the urge eats at me from the inside. So, in order for me to enjoy Golden Sun 2, i would have to look for the best setup on the net and end up wasting far too much time on a children's RPG.
Fuck that, my head hurts even thinking about it. I wish i had a gameshark to make all those troubles go away.
Oh and just wondering, anybody know of a good gameboy sp game that is worth buying? |
